Private sectors join government’s economic development model ‘Thailand 4.0’ to push Thai agriculture to global standards

Bangkok, Thailand, 14 March 2017 – The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. (“IMPACT”), COMEXPOSIUM and Union des Industriels de I’Agroeqyuipment (“AXEMA”) from France, jointly present the third edition of SIMA ASEAN Thailand 2017 – Asia’s largest agricultural trade show; from 7-9 September 2017, at Hall 5-6, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center and IMPACT Lakeside Muang Thong Thani.
In keeping up with the world’s fast changing business and technological landscapes, the Thai government is promoting the ‘Thailand 4.0’ economic development model to transform Thailand into a value based economy and to become a high-income country. SIMA ASEAN Thailand 2017 aims to be one of the most effective methods to promote this model to the whole agriculture industry; to execute the concept of “smart farming”, to encourage Thai traditional farmers to apply innovation and technologies into their daily work; to enhance the productivity; and to add values to products and services to meet global certified standards.
New collaboration with Kasesart University
In collaboration with Kasetsart University, SIMA ASEAN THAILAND 2017 is proud to present the SIMA ASEAN Outdoor Demonstration Area and Agriculture Festival. A key highlight, The Outdoor Demonstration Area presents the live workings of top-notch technologies to farmers and visitors; educate them on best farming practices and machinery’s operations. The Agriculture Festival will display a wide array of agriculture finished products and showcase horticulture best practices. In tandem with ‘Thailand 4.0’, SIMA ASEAN Thailand believes the show will contribute to the increased co-operation and success among the industry.
SIMA ASEAN Thailand – paving the way for agriculture industry
Mr. Thanit Anekwit, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, said “The Ministry embraces economic development model, ‘Thailand 4.0’, in which the nation is formulating ‘Agriculture 4.0’ to drive Thai agriculture on five focused functions: to develop traditional farmers into “smart farmers”; to improve standardization of Thai agriculture; to increase the competitiveness of agricultural products by using appropriate technology and innovation; to preserve natural resources for future farming workings; and to ensure every organization under the Ministry of Agriculture must be a “Smart officer”, in order to educate and support people in agriculture industry. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives strongly supports SIMA ASEAN Thailand2017 as it has proven to the industry that it is the most necessary and important platform that focuses on the innovation, and is an effective business platform to drive and empower farmers and entrepreneurs to push Thai agriculture to global standards.”
